Oprah Ripping James Frey A New One

Wow..  For me, this is pretty much the final word on the James Frey Million Little Lies controversy.

As I writer, I understand the temptation and desire to embellish on facts and circumstances.  And certainly some facts are more dramatic than others.  But misleading your audience into believing truth when something is, in fact, fiction... that's a dangerous game to play when it comes to people's emotions.

On a side note, can we promote Oprah to the White House Press Corps? I'd love to see her take the same tact with various members of the federal government....

I don't see any reason why Oprah wouldn't fit right in with the mainstream press: she had it right the first time (since the book was about redemption and forgiveness) and then changed her mind based on popular opinion and focus group testing.
